What Is Peyronie’s Disease?

Peyronie’s disease is a condition that affects the structure of the penis, leading to curvature, pain, and sometimes erectile dysfunction. It occurs when fibrous scar tissue (plaque) forms under the skin of the penis, causing it to bend during erections. While a slight curve in the penis is normal, Peyronie’s disease can result in significant bending, making sexual activity difficult or painful.

You may notice curvature of the penis during erections; pain in the penis, either with or without an erection; scar tissue formation, felt as hard lumps or bands under the skin; shortening or narrowing of the penis; or erectile dysfunction, making it difficult to achieve or maintain an erection.

Here at GHC, we are one of the few clinics able to offer Focused Shockwave Therapy as an emerging solution for this condition.

What To Expect
Focused Shockwave Therapy (F-SWT) is emerging as a leading treatment method for Peyronie’s disease. A handheld device is placed against the skin of the penis, and high-energy soundwaves are transmitted through the tissue. Treatments take between 15 and 30 minutes, and alleviate pain, promote blood flow, tissue remodelling and softening of the scar tissue that causes curvature.

Please note that certain techniques may require you to remove your underclothes. This will be discussed with you, if required, and if you wish to continue, you will be asked to sign a consent form.
