What is Knee Pain?
If you have knee pain, you’re not alone; frequent knee pain affects around one in four adults. Twists and falls, injuries from overuse, medical conditions, and more can all contribute to knee issues and people of all ages can experience this pain. Knee pain can develop in many ways. Sudden trauma, such as a twisting fall, can tear ligaments and cartilages, resulting in rapid swelling, pain and immobility, which can have a lasting effect if not properly rehabilitated. The knee can also suffer from overuse injuries. Athletes and runners may experience tendinosis, or pain around the front of the knee due to irritation between the kneecap and the thigh bone.
At the Good Health Centre, we take a personalised approach to treating knee pain. Your practitioner will carry out a thorough assessment to determine the cause of the pain, then design a treatment plan tailored to your needs. They will assess your biomechanics to see how the rest of your body is influencing your knee, helping to prevent the problem from returning and keeping you moving with confidence. Treatment may include improving muscle tone, length, and strength within and around the knee; restoring joint mobility in the legs, pelvis, and back; or helping fluid drainage through your lymphatic system.
