Treatments
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient and holistic system of healing that uses very fine, sterile needles at specific points in the body to help:
- Relieve pain
- Release tightness and ease tension
- Improve circulation and support your body’s natural healing
- Calm overactive pain signals
What to expect
Our practitioners will carry out a full assessment before treatment to ensure it’s right for you. They will start your first appointment by asking you about your symptoms and your medical history and will determine whether acupuncture is right for you.
Assuming acupuncture is an appropriate course of treatment, your practitioner will insert fine needles into your skin at specific places, called acupuncture points. The needles may be moved, manipulated or stimulated electrically and heat may be used by burning an herb called moxa. Acupuncture points may also be stimulated by massage.
Acupuncture can be used on its own or as part of a wider treatment plan to give you the best results for your health and wellbeing. The number of treatments you need will depend on your condition. However, you can usually expect to notice improvements within five or six sessions.
