What do we treat?

Erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is a distressing but common condition that affects around 50% of men at some point in their lives. It’s defined as the persistent inability to achieve an erection sufficient for sexual activity, and it can stem from many causes. These include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, nerve damage, hormonal imbalances, stress or lifestyle factors.

While medication often plays a part in treating ED, we can provide a number of other effective treatment options to manage or resolve your symptoms.

Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS)

Chronic pelvic pain syndrome is characterized by ongoing pain or discomfort in the pelvic area that lasts for longer than three months. The causes of CPPS are wide-ranging but common symptoms include:

  • Pain in the lower abdomen or pelvic floor
  • Lower back, groin and thigh pain
  • Discomfort during urination or ejaculation
  • Testicular pain
Urinary symptoms, such as frequency and urgency
Coccydynia

Coccydynia refers to pain in the coccyx, or tailbone. It’s most commonly caused by a fall to the base of the back, which can hurt the tailbone. It can also be triggered by repetitive strain from activities like cycling or rowing, or prolonged sitting on hard surfaces. Patients with coccydynia typically find sitting on a hard surface or rising from a seated position painful.

What does treatment typically look like?

Our experienced team uses evidence-based techniques and personalised treatment plans to deliver effective care tailored to your individual needs.

Treatments and techniques will vary depending on the patient and the underlying condition but there are several common forms of therapy which include:

  • Manual therapy including joint mobilisation, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release techniques: Helps relieve pain and stiffness while improving flexibility and function of the pelvic area
  • Acupuncture: Acupuncture around the pelvic area can lessen pelvic pain and can reduce or minimise the symptoms associated with related Men’s Health concerns
  • Exercise and movement: Targeted exercises can help rebuild strength, improve flexibility, and restore function of the pelvic area
  • Focused shockwave therapy: High-energy soundwaves, delivered via a handheld focused shockwave machine, promote the formation of new blood vessels which can alleviate pain while promoting blood flow, tissue remodeling, and softening of scar tissue (as applicable)
