Treat Yourself To A Sports Massage In Leeds

Whether overcoming a strain during training, or tight muscles from working at a desk all day, a sports massage in Leeds can help ease pain and tension in the muscles to help you feel 100% again.

Why Choose Massage?

A professional remedial massage can ease muscle knots and spasms, soothe stiff joints and release endorphins, the body’s natural pain-killing chemicals. Regular massage can correct muscle tone preventing further injury.

The mental and physical stresses of modern life induce muscular tensions. This causes pain, increasing stress in what can become a vicious cycle. Massage can break this cycle helping you enjoy life.

How Can It Help Me?
Massage stimulates blood flow to damaged tissues, encouraging a speedier recovery from a range of injuries and physical discomfort:

  • Sports injuries
  • Neck pain and whiplash injuries
  • Lower back pain and postural problems
  • Repetitive strain injury
  • Chronic headache caused by muscular tension
  • Soothing of mental and physical stress
  • Muscular tension and pain – massage can release knots and imperfections, easing pain and helping to improve your movement.
The Massage Treatment

Remedial massage is one of the most effective and readily available ways to prevent and treat muscle injuries, pain and soreness.

The soft tissues in our bodies respond to touch. Much of our pain originates in the soft tissue of our muscles, tendons and ligaments. These tissues move and stabilise our joints and protect our organs. Problems can cause headache, chest pain, abdominal and pelvic pain as well as the classic symptoms of back and neck pain.

The massage techniques our massage specialists use are designed to treat both the deep and superficial tissues, improving the flow of blood and lymph to clear toxins and aid your healing.

Your therapist will use skilled manipulation combined with an in-depth knowledge of the body’s anatomy and physiology to ease your pain, correcting problems with your body’s muscles and soft tissues.

What To Expect
At your first appointment your therapist will take details of your medical history, or ask you to complete a questionnaire about any medical problems, treatments or concerns. Our massage therapy room here at the Good Health Centre is warm, peaceful and relaxing. You will be asked to undress to your level of comfort and modesty, and to lie on the treatment couch under a large towel. During the session, your therapist will use this to expose only those parts of the body to which treatment is being applied. No body part or area will be massaged without your permission.

The therapy involves massage to warm the area, then a variety of massage techniques that achieve different results:

  • flushing fluid through the tissues
  • pressing the muscles to release tension
  • pressing areas of hardened tissue to break them up
  • stretching tissue to restore normal range of movement
  • tapping muscles to increase the blood supply to the muscles and to tone them.
Cautions & Care

Massage is a safe and non invasive physical therapy. However, if you have had a recent injury it is sensible to consult a doctor if there may be any bone damage or fractures.

People with cancer should see specially trained massage practitioners. Deep massage on any part of the body is not advisable for those with active cancer.

I have used the Good Health centre over many years. Seb, one of the osteopaths, helps me maintain a quality of life that I wouldn't otherwise enjoy. He is always patient and kind, and treats me with respect. The receptionists are always cheerful, and make one feel welcome. I would highly recommend.

I've been struggling with persistent pain in top of the hamstring/glute, for nearly one year. I tried the standard physio, rest, DYI solutions and strengthening exercises and none of them helped me completely. Eventually I went to the clinic and discussed the problem with the osteopath and in 3 sessions my leg is nearly 100% healthy again. Really impressive outcome and great service

I've been coming to the Good Health Centre on and off for my back issues for years. They offer so many different treatments. For me, I am currently going for a sciatica issue and Yanis is a magician! I travel from London to see him as he always gets to the root of the problem and does his upmost to assist and sort out the issue as well as updating me on everything he is doing and why. For me, he is fantastic and one of the reasons I come back time and time again when I need to. He is a savior to me!

I’ve been a client at The Good Health Clinic for a year since Josh McCollum.moved there from a local clinic to where I live. I had no hesitation at all in following him there which involves me undertaking a 30 mile round journey. I first met Josh in August 2021 following a major break in my ankle. He has been an absolutely vital to me as I built up a trustworthy group of therapists to enable my safe rehabilitation. I can’t recommend Josh enough for his kindness, understanding, care and expertise in aiding my recovery and now helping to maintain my recovery. Josh, I can never ever thank you enough 🤩

Good Health Centre has had a huge impact on my career as a dancer. I visit Josh regularly for osteopathy treatment to support my physical training and to improve my overall awareness of my body. It has really helped me to overcome and keep on top of injuries and any pains which come with the demands of a physically challenging job. I couldn’t recommend Josh and the Good Health Centre enough!
